LEO's Dance of the Seasonal Lights
Now is the time to create a better place to play!

July 23 to August 23, 2010
With last month’s journey of the Sun through Cancer, most of us found comfort in our favorite places, celebrating the first days of Summer. Now, as the Sun enters Leo, the residual summer heat makes us feel more expansive-- more willing to leave our shelters, step into the outer world and focus on the colorful glow that lites up the space around us.
Standing in the center of their enchanted kingdoms, our Leo friends see these lights in all their splendor, as the radiant colors reveal ways to make the world even brighter. Let’s build a gazebo in the backyard and place a chandelier in the living room. Better yet, tear it all down and build a shiny castle! Why not? In this mid-summer light, these lions see a world of abundance and riches. ALL of the resources are there, to make our surroundings more elegant. Yes, we can create a better place to play!
More than others, your Leo friends will be inspired by these fiery urges. In heated moments, they will proudly strut up to the stage to present the grandiose “vision” that they see. With their theatrical skills, they all too easily attract attention as their fixed fires arouse our Taurus sensations, activate our Gemini minds and enhance the tidal effects of our Cancerian rhythms. This dramatic show often inspires us to follow their royal decrees.
These theatrical pronouncements are different for every cat. Some, like those with the sunny disposition of Kathie Lee Gifford, will demonstrate the sparkling confidence that will make us believe that anything is possible. Others, like Garrison Keillor, may not be so fiery but they tell a fabulous story with heartfelt warmth and generosity. This makes others feel they are part of the event.
In addition, there are those lions like Hally Berry, who willingly become the actors in our play so that we can understand and control the dramas that surround us in our lives. Then we have spirits like Jerry Garcia, who with his uninhibited gift for music, inspired many to become One with the shimmering lights-- and dance to the rhythms of all of the seasons!
Oh, what a show these people present-- and it’s enhanced by the physical traits that appropriately resemble those of a lion. Note the cubical skull, the blocks on the forehead and the wide cheeks that stop straight down to the square jaw. Also we see the massive mane, the broad but stubby nose and the jowls on the side of the mouth. Many of these souls display an abundance of hair. In the males, beards are quite prominent.
Leo is ruled by the Sun and perhaps this is why some of these creatures have such a bloated sense of self importance. They actually believe “everything revolves around them” and they are the source of ALL creation. The seasonal lights also give them a sense that there are no limits and this can break any budget.
This self-centered view is countered on the other side of the zodiac wheel in the sign of Aquarius. The balance of these two opposing signs gives us confident and creative individuals who, in their collective connection, contribute to the advancement of all of humanity.
In the coming month, the expansive perspective of Leo faces the restrained and practical reality of Virgo. There, the activation of mutable forces will help us perform the service and the physical work, that will make our creative visions possible.
