Current Seasonal Forces and Patterns
The expansive winds of Gemini have receded, but our minds remain filled with an array of scintillating thoughts. But at the Summer Solstice, (when the Sun shifts direction to begin it journey towards Earth’s southern pole), it is time to gather our scattered thoughts together-- to create a base of emotional understanding that will carry us forward, as the currents of time drift in a whole new direction.
The bright lights of Summer are making us fully aware of everything that surrounds us. Let’s go camping, to the beach and have a picnic. But... not too far. The heat is overwhelming. The mosquitoes are unbearable. And there are other threats-- real and imagined! We need to create a place to be secure and protected-- a space where we can feel good about where we’re at!
The Sun’s reversal into its waning phase also brings a switch to feminine/negative polarity. This makes many of us intuitively sensitive to the currents on this Earth, as well as the biorhythms in our bodies. Appropriately, our Cancer brothers and sisters will know what these wave patterns are doing to us emotionally. These Crabs also appear to have an uncanny awareness of the seasonal cycles, the tidal forces of the Moon and the hourly changes of the day-- and how they are affecting our environment.
If you are feeling unsettled by the events around you, then you need to spend more time with a Cancer friend!
Have a Conversation with a Cancer Friend
Since the Moon greatly impacts the tides of Earth’s oceans (and our emotions), it has been assigned to be the ruler of the sign Cancer. Appropriately, the emotions of our Cancer friends appear to wax and wane in regular “tidal” patterns. You can see these liquid waves of expressions in the celebrities presented here:
With a Scorpio Ascendant and a Pisces Moon, Robin Williams’ emotions often run uncontrolled, as his waters seem to settle, swirl up and down, then break into a surging wave-- all at the same time!
Diana, Princess of Wales' Aquarius Moon and Sagittarius Ascendant brought a need for independence and freedom. In her royal role, the constant intrusion into her private space became unbearable.
Our final two Crabs are distinctively different. Willem Dafoe’s Aquarius Ascendant gives the impression that this is someone who is radical and eccentric-- not the typical homebody. With his Virgo Moon, he often takes on villainous roles, engineering ways to upset the apple cart. These Uranus and Mercury energies make him a quixotic and highly mentally crab.
Through the window of her Cancer Ascendant , Liv Tyler sees the currents flowing purposefully, as they run at a deliberate pace, reflecting the orchestrated emotions of her Capricorn Moon.
The internal draw-of-energy in these Cancer Suns gives most of these creatures a deflated appearance, save for the ballooning flesh that inflates the round lunar temples. The subterranean facial structure appears to resemble the patterns of the shell of a crab.
Some of these souls may become emotionally withdrawn and crabby, as their clutched pincers refuse to release any of their emotional attachments. Fortunately, the more enlightened crabs easily interact with their environment as they glide effortlessly on the crest of any wave. Such Cancer friends can help you create a home and a place of comfort. From that base, you can continue to create the contributions that you desire to make in life.
The Continuing Process and Other Current Cycles
On the other side of the year, when the sun enters Capricorn, the orientation moves from the home to the “world at large”. There, we are encouraged to become part of the larger family of our community.
On July 15, there will be a full Moon in Capricorn. On this day, it is a wonderful time to emerge from your home and become further involved with your community.
Once we feel Cancer’s sense of belonging, we can be comfortable with our sense of self. At such time, we are really to expand our horizons-- to create a glamorous place to play! In the coming month, the expansive, fixed perspective of Leo will place us on center stage, so that we can present our creative visions to our family and those that we love.
